Where did my old clips go?
Syndicated content may not be permanent. Syndicated content is not "earned media pickup" which are original articles or news mentions. Syndicated content can be retired/expired due to various factors.
This tab in your report will cover some of the content which may be missing in your report if you come back at later time to revisit "clips" and find dead or missing links. We have no control over content partners who remove your content (or don't post it at all in first place), who go out of business, change ownership, change content policies, or have technical issues. Also, content systems which are "pay to play" platforms we choose to no longer work with due to low quality will generally remove all content at the time our relationship ends.
AP NEWS ITEMS:
While the main APnews.com version of your story will generally be semi-permanent (as long as we are strategic partners), the sites in AP's network syndicating your news (e.g., newspaper and broadcast sites across U.S.) will expire often in 30 days due to fact these sites are only paying the AP to use their original reporting, and your news in the same feeds, for limited time. Idea being it's no longer news after a certain point.
MARKETWATCH:
MarketWatch informed media partners they were discontinuing publishing of *all* third party press release and newswire content effective the week of June 19, 2023, with no advance notice.
FINANCIAL CONTENT NETWORK:
As of October 31, 2021 we retired our long standing partnership with the FC Network due to very low quality of their "guaranteed placement on 100 newspaper sites." These sites which ran on things like finance.boston.com or similar, never appeared in search results, never in Google News, and were not searchable from the website front page, since the sub-domain was redirect to FCN platform, which as of 2021 was full of errors and glitches and didn't load properly, and was not https. This junk content was felt to have absolutely zero value as nobody will ever see it. Some other junk wire services still use this to "guarantee" pick-up. We only offered due to competitive reasons.
Our placement on the AP as of Oct. 2020 is more valuable as folks will actually see the news. We added the GoMedia Network in place of FCN, for better quality sites, including photo and video support.
FRANKLY NETWORK:
Content in the Frankly Network was retired Dec. 31, 2020. For many years the Frankly Network was used by newswires of all sizes to bolster clips on up to 150 sites, often so they/we could advertise "guaranteed placement on FOX, NBC, CBS" etc. However in 2020 they dropped from 150 to less than 15 sites, and their news would expire in 30-60 days, was hidden on sub domains and not really on the main sites, and even if it showed up in search it would soon be gone. Annoyingly they would also remove anything related to certain arts announcements with mature subject, legitimate political announcements, etc.
Here again, our placement on the AP as of Oct. 2020 is more valuable as folks will actually see the news and not hidden on a sub-domain.
DIGITAL JOURNAL:
Digital Journal carried our news for many years. However, in mid 2021 they started asking a large fee to place our news, and we opted NOT to pay their fee. They removed many years of content due to that. Several clients asked about DG during this time, and we've chosen to reinstate our partnership as of Feb. 2022.
PRN/CISION CONTENT:
With our S2P+CISION plans (formerly "Premium" plans), your news also runs on PRN's website and PRN content partners (including their own "pay to play" systems). We have zero control over how long content appears on any site syndicating news via PRN. In the past their partners have suddenly vanished without warning, such as the BizJournals sites decided to no longer carry syndicated content, or the Reuters website removing ALL press release content from their public site. PRN also stopped working with the FC Network for 2022. Syndicated content is generally NOT permanent, but the version on the main PRNewswire website should be permanent, even if we discontinue our partnership with them (which after 20 years is not going to happen anytime soon).
